SMP explained
A practical introduction based on Vista Hair Clinic’s archived patient information.
What is scalp micropigmentation?
Scalp micropigmentation is a permanent cosmetic procedure in which tiny deposits of pigment are placed in the upper dermis using specialized equipment. The impressions are designed to resemble closely cropped follicles and reduce the contrast of visible scalp.
It can be planned to restore the look of a receded hairline, add the appearance of density to thinning areas, or camouflage healed transplant and surgical scars.
The archived treatment guide describes a typical plan of two to four sessions, often lasting three to four hours each, with at least one week between visits.
A gradual, layered result
Later sessions add density and depth through pigment shading and layering. A gradual process lets the practitioner refine the hairline and blend the treatment with each client’s natural follicle pattern.
Who may consider SMP?
Cosmetic results and suitability vary. A qualified practitioner should assess medical history, skin condition and expectations before treatment.
